Why Silicone Render?

High Performance Silicone Render is:

The most flexible render that can be applied to the exterior of a building. This means that it is the most unlikely render to crack, provided the building does not have any structural problems or issues with movement.

Durable; thin coat render with BBA certification that is applied in accordance with manufacturers recommendation lasts a minimum 25 years but can last much longer.

Hydrophobic; It is water repellent and self-cleaning. Any dirt particles are easily washed away by the rain helping the house to maintain a fresh façade for many years.

Breathable; It allows the structure and walls to breath and dry out just in case some moisture is trapped in the building or in the walls or there is condensation in the building. It is less likely to cause a damp problem.

Healthier; It eliminates the risk of damp, moisture and condensation in the structure therefore it prevents the condition for the growth of mould and microorganisms.

Versatile; It can be tinted into a variety of colours allowing for many design and appearance variations to a building.

Silicone render is pre-coloured meaning that it can last longer and eliminates the requirement for painting thereby significantly reducing the cost of maintenance. However, if you change your mind about the colour at a later stage it can be painted over, using breathable paint. It can also be applied over existing render.

Here is how silicone render compares to other types of renders:

Acrylic Render

Although acrylic is a relatively cheaper render with similar advantages to the silicone render in that they help to provide better stain and water resistance with greater resistance to cracking. So, acrylic render has a similar life span to silicone render. However, acrylic render does not breathe or allow air to get to the bricks and insulation underneath.

Cement and Sand Render

Cement and sand is a traditional type of render that provides a budget friendly solution to rendering. However, it has no give or flexibility. So as your home expands and contracts with changes in weather it will crack and as time goes on and water begins to get behind the render, it may begin coming off the walls. So continuous maintenance and repair work is necessary to keep this render looking its best.  Over time, this could prove more costly.

Monocouche Render

Monocouche provides reasonable breathability.  It is waterproof and weather-proof in its guaranteed life span. These renders have a high thermal efficiency which can also act as insulation, thereby reducing fuel bills. However, it has a shorter lifespan, lasting for a guaranteed 10 years.
